Happy B-day Jesus!!

Seeing as tomorrow is the first day of March (My second favorite month next to October, look for many Halloween blogs the closer we get to said month) I thought It would be appropriate to  to wish Jesus a happy birthday, now technically no one really knows the exact day, however all signs point to March being more accurate,  so yes thats right, he wasn’t  born in December at all… let me explain..

The only reason that Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus on 12/25 wasn’t out of any proof of his birth being in that month , the real reason was that they didnt want to be upstaged by some pagans.  Saturnalia was a tradition inherited by the Roman pagans from an earlier Babylonian priesthood. December 25 was used as a celebration of the birthday of the sun god, as it was observed near the winter solstice.

The apostles in the Bible predicted that some Christians would adopt pagan beliefs to enable them to make their religion more palatable to the pagans around them. Therefore, some scholars think the church chose the date of this pagan celebration to interest them in Christianity.

Not only do we get to look forward to the first day of Spring, and St Patrick’s day (and 2 b-days of ex-girlfriends, and 1 ex-wife on my end) we can now also add the birth of Jesus. I’m definitely looking forward to getting some presents, and should probably start looking for that perfect tree!!
